There really isn't much to report this week. There's nothing new on the
budget -- the small committee continues to meet, but doesn't share its findings. No
progress on any of my remaining bills -- only more intrigue on the fate of HB2132
(more on this next week). And, we didn't act on any important legislation
last week. All in all a very unproductive and frustrating week.
Not all was bad, however, as I had a full day on Saturday. It started with
a trip to Dolan Springs for the VFW Loyalty Day Parade and pancake breakfast
at theVFW post. Paul and I enjoyed the meal and visiting with folks as
we ate. There were quite a few entries in the parade, and we both enjoyed
waving to the people gathered on the street to watch us go by.
Later in the day I attended a "Meet the Candidates" social sponsored
by the Colorado River Republican Women at the home of John and Louanne Brennan. Candidates
from many different offices were represented. These types of events allow
for more direct contact with elected officials and candidates and there is more
time for individual contacts than in the traditional forum setting.
Finally, Paul and I were guests at a private reception for Congressman Trent
Franks at a home in Bullhead City. Rep. Franks spoke for almost an hour,
taking questions from those in attendance and giving detailed and responsive
answers to those questions. I believe we are very fortunate to have a man
such as Trent Franks as our representative in Congress.
I hope this coming week will bring more positive results.
Until next week,
Nancy
