Mohave County elected officials pose with Colorado River Republican Forum President Damian Holther Saturday, March 7, following a presentation from Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan. Pictured are (from left) Dist. 2 Mohave County Supervisor Tom Sockwell, Holther, Sheahan , Arizona Rep. Nancy McLain, Arizona Rep. Doris Goodale and Mohave County Recorder Carol Meier. Sheahan discussed his agency's focus of patrolling the Colorado River and a recent attempt by state parks to sweep funds from waterways law enforcement. He warned against a federal bill sponsored by Congressman Bobby Rush of Chicago to force firearms owners to carry identification cards. “It's a chipping away at our 2 nd Amendment rights,” he said. Sheahan also discussed issues concerning Colorado City and explained that the Sheriff's Office and Mohave County are, in spite of the economic downturn, in good shape because of good fiscal management. Goodale and McLain also gave updates on activities and issues at the Arizona Legislature.

CSA staff and supervisors discussed House and Senate bills concerning water, transportation, infrastructure and other issues of importance to counties and residents. Interested state legislators are always welcome to attend the CSA meetings.

Arizona Rep. Nancy McLain (standing) speaks at the Colorado River Republican Forum Saturday, Sept. 2, in Bullhead City. The state representative discussed issues of importance from the last session of the Legislature. In reference to some recent radio attacks by unnamed candidates, Forum President Damian Holther (seated to the right of McLain) led the organization in a unanimous vote to oppose all forms of negative campaigning. The Forum meets the first Tuesday of each month. For information on the Forum, call Holther at (928) 758-7600.

Saturday, April 1st, I attended a meeting of the Colorado River Republican Forum, where Dick Adams, Director of the Bullhead Area Economic Development Authority, was the featured speaker. Pictured above at the meeting are Adams, Rep. McLain and Supervisor Tom Sockwell.
This was at Meadview, May 6th and I was the "grand marshall" of the small but enthusiastic parade.
On March 9th, I visited the "Bionic Bulldogs" of Kingman High School, winners of the FIRST Robotics Competition, an exciting, multinational competition that teams professionals and young people to solve an engineering design problem in an intense and competitive way. The competition shows students that the technological fields hold many opportunities and that the basic concepts of science, math, engineering, and invention are exciting and interesting. The team's coach, Kingman H.S. science teacher Shawn Hardina, hopes to foster an interest in science and education through a "life-changing, career-molding experience" such as the Robotics Competition Program.
