Weekly Report |
|
April 2 , 2007 I was in Los Angeles this past weekend on business, so this week's report will be very brief as I try to catch up. My bill to help Oatman provide public restrooms
passed its second committee and is now ready for Rules
(should be no problem), Committee of the Whole, and
3rd Read in the Senate. I'm fairly confident
that it will go through all these procedures and then
go on to the Governor for signature.
My bill for amateur radio did not fare so well. The
chairman of the Government Committee would not hear
it. He said that he didn't want the HOAs down
on him for allowing 40' towers in their associations. I
tried and tried to convince him that this would not
be the result of this bill, but he was adamant. I
tried several round about ways to get it heard but
was unsuccessful. I'm sure we'll try again next
year, and make sure it doesn't get assigned to his
committee.
Otherwise, things have calmed down at the Capitol. The
only committee still meeting is Appropriations, which
will have its final meeting this week, so that cuts
down on time spent preparing, as well as the time actually
spent in the hearings. The budget process continues,
with all of us giving our input to leadership as to
what we want to see in the final product. Once
we get agreement here, then the negotiations begin
with the Governor.
Until next week,
